Gowalla & Foursquare
One of the benefits of software-as-a-service—in addition to not having to maintain servers and continually purchase upgrades—is the continual rollout of new features. For FeedMagnet, many of those new features come in the form of new content sources, and our two new ones are the fun, location-based, Gowalla and Foursquare.
Gowalla
The Austin-based social network that encourages you to go out and explore your surroundings can now feed data into your FeedMagnet displays. We can pull in check-ins from specific users (like the CEO of your company) or specific locations (like your store front in Manhattan). We also pull in and display the famous Gowalla location icons—and we recognize Gowalla check-ins posted to Twitter and Facebook as well, so even if you don't add Gowalla a source, you can still benefit from this integration.
Foursquare
Foursquare has not been quite as kind to us with their API, giving us access to less data than Gowalla (no photos, text status updates, etc.), but we are still able to pull in updates from specific locations - and since we support both Gowalla and Foursquare, you can pull in all check-ins across both and merge them together into a single feed for display on your website or on screens out where the people are.
