Social Networks Get Down to Business

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of new companies? Startuplife.co, hosted by top-level domain .CO, gives viewers an inside peek at entrepreneurs’ blood, sweat, and tears as they build companies from the ground up.

Pappas Group built the web experience leveraging FeedMagnet’s curation software to aggregate and display social content from networking sites including Twitter, Instagram, and Google + surrounding the hashtag #startuplife. The result reads like a curation of startup autobiographies being written in real time, to the tune of 140 character additions.

“The startup community has a very unique culture where people will make unbelievable personal sacrifices in order to turn a concept into a real business,” said Pappas Group Strategy Director Jeremy Gilman. “This leads to moments, both funny and serious, that only other people involved in startups can relate to. We wanted to find a way to celebrate this culture and connect startups in a really simple way because .CO is home to so many of them and is really built for them. Startuplife.co and #startuplife enabled us to do that.”

Created in the Spring of 2012, the relatively new site has already become an impressive, real community. Posts range from humorous anecdotes to tips on the best ways to get your business started, making the site the perfect locale for both dreamers and doers. We’ve even noticed some common themes - caffeine-induced all nighters and humorous cold calls ranking high on the list of shared -- and memorable -- experiences.

Startuplife.co provides a venue for startups to vent, get inspired, and even give and receive free advice from individuals in other industries. FeedMagnet has a soft spot for this project in its heart -- many of the posts reflect experiences shared in this office, and we're proud to be part of the #startuplife community.
