Breaking the Silence on World AIDS Day

MTV

MTV’s World AIDS Day 2012 campaign spoke to the power of positive messaging when discussing HIV and AIDS. As part of their efforts, Viacom partnered with FeedMagnet to develop an event screen that aggregated, filtered and displayed Twitter updates on MTV 44 ½’s large display screen in Times Square.

For three days leading up to World AIDS day, the public saw tweets discussing and anticipating MTV’s “I’m Positive” television special as well as updates from organizations and individuals sharing personal experiences and hopes. Tweets were curated with the hashtag #PositiveTalk to encourage others to get information, promote safe practices and stay healthy. The screen also included information on tuning in to the special, which raised awareness of young people living with HIV.
