How much does it cost?
We are working on a premium version of FeedMagnet that will have a monthly fee, but there will always be a free version. Right now you can only sign up for the free version, which has quite a few limitations (see below) but will always be free. So you don't have to worry about falling in love with it - or getting it all hooked up for your site - just to find out that you will have to pay for it in the future.
What limitations does the free version have?
The free version of FeedMagnet only allows you to have two Authors and one Search Topic. Each Author and Topic can only have one of each type of source. So if you set up a search topic to find cute pictures of puppies, you can only run one search query on Twitter and one on Flickr - you can't search Twitter for "cute puppies" AND "adorable puppies". You are also limited in the number of updates you can pull in per hour in the free version. When you first set up an author or topic, it will pull in all updates, but after a while it will start limiting you to 10 updates per hour. You'll get an email when you hit the limit to let you know it has stopped pulling in updates. After an hour time out, updates will start coming in again. These limitations will not exist in the premium version(s) of the product.
But I want to have an unlimited account now...
Awesome. Just send us a note on the Contact Us page and we'll get in touch with you to talk about pricing and get you all set up.
Content Sources
I see Twitter, Flickr, and a few others - what about _________
FeedMagnet is "source agnostic" - meaning we can process content from any source. We're in the process of building hooks for additional sources and we'd love to hear which ones you want first. We really do listen to our users and will adjust the order we build new features in based on user feedback. Post a suggestion in our support forum on GetSatisfaction to let us know what sources you want to see next.
What happens if Twitter (or another content source) goes down?
We keep a copy of all the updates we pull in - so even if Twitter is giving you a fail whale, you'll still be able to view your feed on FeedMagnet - we just may not be able to pull in new updates until the site having trouble comes back online.
Filtering and Moderation
Can I filter or moderate the content coming in to FeedMagnet?
We're working on filters and moderation right now and they will be among the features launched with premium accounts in the next few months. If you need a custom solution with filtering and moderation now, let us know - we may be able to get something set up for you sooner.
Embed Widget
How do I get this content on my own website?
Just log in and go to the Embed Widgets page to get the code needed to embed your content. You can even update the CSS for the embed tag to make it look just like your website. The only catch is that you have to keep the "Powered By FeedMagnet" message displayed on the page as long as you are on a free account.
